Festival Programme

The 2018 FANS Youth Film Festival was an unprecedented success with over 300 people attending the festival over the weekend.  We screened 36 youth made short films, 15 Film Challenges and hosted a fantastic programme of panel discussions, workshops and networking events with loads of pizza and prizes!!

Prizes went to the following films:

  • The FANS Youth Team Award went to Louis Martin for Box of Frogs. 
  • The Audience Award went to Metropolitan Spaghetti, produced during the Aberdeen BFI Film Academy
  • Best Under 12’s film went to Dalry Primary School/Room 8 Studio’s for  A Place That Is Mine.
  • Achievement in Sound was awarded to Fiona Burton for City Sound.
  • Achievement in Cinematography went to Jakub Sirkowski for Butterfly.
  • Best Story was awarded to Dora Cowper for Hindsight.

 

The Winning Film Challenges were:

  • No DialogueA Longest Introduction by Fraser Young.
  • Social IssuesA Simple Love by Kate Stone.
  • Animation Lada by Eva Evic.

 

The Festival Programme was developed by the FANS Youth Team; a group of young people from across Scotland who are involved with Film Access Scotland organisations

Ideas for the festival were formed, shaped and refined over 9 months through a programme of training and development initiatives. See Behind the Scenes for images from the festival and the story behind the development process.
