Accessibility

Accessibility is fundamental to the ethos of Film Access Scotland and the FANS Youth Film Festival.  All of the events at the Film Festival are free to attend, travel bursaries are available, our screening strands are all subtitled and BSL interpreters will provide translations at our panel discussions and materclasses.

Diversity and inclusion are core principles in all of our activities. Our aim is to encourage people from all walks of life, cultures and subcultures to engage with film as a means of empowerment through creative expression.  We also aim to create bridges into the film and television industry for young people intent on a career in the film and television sector.

Attend FANS Youth Film Festival

Attendance Bursaries

Film Access Scotland aims to encourage access to film and creative engagement for all young people in Scotland. We have set up a bursary scheme to help those who would otherwise not be able to resource attendance at the Festival in Edinburgh.  The Bursary is available for individual young people as well as groups. It is available to cover travel, accommodation and subsistence. A contribution towards staff costs is also available.

APPLICATIONS FOR 2019 ARE NOW CLOSED

Further Opportunities

The Organisations in Film Access Scotland have a long history of working with young people and the wider community by using film to increase skills, confidence and resilience through a committed, high quality creative learning approach.

FANS Youth Film Festival is keen to encourage young people and organisations working with young people to engage with Film Access Scotland in order to explore the opportunities for further engagement with film across Scotland.

We hope to see more films from more young people in more areas of Scotland at next year’s Film Festival.  There are many ways to develop your film making skills and submit a festival winner.  Check out our opportunities page for courses, resources and links for helping young people realise their film making ambitions.
