Hear from a panel of young professionals successfully making their way in the media industry

Raisah Ahmed is a Scottish Asian Muslim Writer/Director based in Glasgow, Scotland who got her start in the industry through a First Light apprenticeship – Second Light delivered by GMAC Film. Her first short as writer ‘Last Order’, was commissioned through Second Light, her first short as writer/director, ‘Meet Me By The Water’, was commissioned by the Scottish Film Talent Network as part of New Talent Shorts 2015 and premiered in competition at the Edinburgh International Film Festival 2016.  She is alumni of the EIFF Talent Lab 2014 and a Creative Scotland Artists Bursary awardee for the development of her second feature script ‘Safar’, a female road trip film which went on to be shortlisted for the Sundance Writers Lab 2018 and is currently in development with Producer Zorana Piggott and the Scottish Film Talent Network.  Risah will talk about her journey into film and her plans going forward.

Alex Porter-Smith and Ethan Currie from High Tide Media – a film & video production company, based in Edinburgh.  Alex has been selected by the BFI as one of the UK’s most promising young filmmakers, she has six years of professional experience in film production and co-founded High Tide Media with Eathan Currie  who started his career as an apprentice videographer and editor at Creative Scotland, going on to study BA (Hons) Television at Edinburgh Napier University. With an eye for detail and a passion for creative processes, he captures the vision of each client through distinct and compelling video content.
